Questions to Ask Before You Book

Most couples spend more time picking a cake than interviewing their photographer. Here's what actually matters:

• How many weddings have you shot solo versus with a second shooter?
• What happens if you have an emergency on my wedding day?
• Can I see a full wedding gallery — not just your highlights?
• What's your turnaround time for the full gallery?
• How do you handle low light situations like a dark reception hall?

That last one separates the experienced photographers from the ones who look good outside in golden hour and disappear when the lights go down. DC receptions are often indoors. You need someone who knows how to work with difficult light.
